Student Organizations
The Undergraduate Student Government serves over 220 student organizations in conjunction with student activities. USG allocates over $800,000 annually to support organizations and enable new opportunities. Is your organization in need of resources? Stop by the USG office and see if we can help!
Campus Traditions
From Winter Carnival to Homecoming USG plays a key role in supporting campus traditions. USG allocates a large portion of the Student Activity Fee to campus traditions.
Winter Carnival
Every year USG members volunteer to help students and visitors cross highway 41 safely during the Winter Carnival all-nighter. During Carnival, USG also runs the very popular Chili Van.
K-Day & Spring Fling
USG is a regular participant in these two popular events. We enjoy meeting incoming students, recruiting, and informing others of how we are involved with the student body.
Break Buses
Every year USG charters a Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring Break Bus for students to easily travel home. Buses travel to downstate Michigan and tickets sell out quickly!

MTU v. NMU Hockey Tailgate
As much as we love our old traditions, we enjoy creating more engaging events for students. The traditional Michigan Tech v. Northern Michigan Hockey games are a prime time for us to meet a large majority of students. Starting in Spring 2016, USG began hosting tailgates prior to the big game for staff, students, and visitors to enjoy.
Town Hall Meetings
In the Fall of 2017, USG facilitated a town hall meeting exclusively for students of Michigan Tech in order to prioritize their voice. The first meeting of more to come invited U.S. Representative Jack Bergman to speak on local and national issues, as well answer questions from constituents.
On-Campus Policy
USG has a direct line of communication to the Michigan Tech executive team, the University Senate, the Graduate Student Government, and the Board of Trustees. Our job is to ensure the student voice is heard when major policy decisions are being made. Talk with your USG representative or attend one of our weekly meetings (Wednesdays @ 7pm in the MUB) to share your concerns.
