What is the Undergraduate Student Government?

The Undergraduate Student Government at Michigan Technological University is a collection of your undergraduate peers that represent you, the student, when making decisions about different aspects of student life.

We provide funding to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) through the Student Activity Fee, run the Holiday Break Buses, meet with administration to discuss student concerns, and otherwise find ways to improve how we represent you, the undergraduates of Michigan Tech!

We are made up of administrative advisors, a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, college representative, school-year representatives, at-large representatives, and associate members. We also meet with the Dean of Students frequently.

We Fight For You!

Michigan Technological University exists because of the dedicated students that come to Houghton, MI, and you deserve a voice in how the university interacts with students. From RSOs to campus initiatives, the Undergraduate Student Government represents all undergraduate students, and we want to hear from you about your most pressing issues!

What Does an Undergraduate Student Government Representative Do?

It depends on the position that each member has been elected into, but the basic expectation of a USG member is to have 3 office hours a week, be a member of a committee, and attend weekly meetings with the entire USG body!
